Marginal Trade-Offs for Improved Agro-Ecological Efficiency Using Data Envelopment Analysis

چکیده

Today’s agricultural management decisions impact food security and sustainable ecosystems, even when operating with back-to-basic operations. In such endeavors, policymakers usually need a quantitative tool, as trade-offs margins, to effectively adjust resource consumption or production. This paper applies the weighted slack-based measurement (SBM-DEA) program 136 developing countries’ performance. First, it finds current efficiency then makes marginal on desirable-output variables (such crop yield forest area) see effective changes in undesirable-output methane nitrous oxide emissions). The results show that choosing does not deteriorate relative of decision-making units (DMUs) below efficient frontier line. Thus, method enables decision-makers determine best trade-off points reach optimal efficiencies decide which output factor needs special brainstorming design policy.

Resolving Trade-Offs In Service Performance Benchmarking Using Data Envelopment Analysis

The purpose of this paper is to make an argument for utilizing the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) as a method to resolve conflicting goals in service performance management systems. Service businesses are faced with two particular challenges that introduce the need to trade-off metrics against each other. First, their rather intangible and perishable properties require incorporating nonfinanci...

Interval efficiency assessment using data envelopment analysis

This paper studies how to conduct efficiency assessment using data envelopment analysis (DEA) in interval and/or fuzzy input–output environments. A new pair of interval DEA models is constructed on the basis of interval arithmetic, which differs from the existing DEA models handling interval data in that the former is a linear CCR model without the need of extra variable alternations and uses a...

Detecting Ecological Trade-offs Using Selection Experiments

Theories of the evolution of niche breadth usually depend on the assumption that genotypes that are well adapted to exploit one habitat or resource are not well adapted to others. Such ‘‘trade-offs’’ are often apparent in interspecific comparisons, but have been harder to document at the within-population level. Selection experiments provide a promising means for detecting within-population tra...

Estimation of cost efficiency for firms in different technologies using data envelopment analysis

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method for evaluating the relative efficiency of a set of firms in a production process. Estimation of cost efficiency is one of the branches of performance evaluation. Cost efficiency evaluates the ability of producing current output with minimum available cost. Now let's assume that there are several groups of firms that operate separately and have differe...

A mathematical model for dynamic efficiency using data envelopment analysis

In this paper we propose a data envelopment analysis (DEA) based method for assessing the comparative efficiencies of units operating production processes where input–output levels are inter-temporally dependent. One cause of inter-temporal dependence between input and output levels is capital stock which influences output levels over many production periods. Such units cannot be assessed by tr...
